Sometimes the hardest part of a health journey isn’t the struggle itself—it’s feeling unheard or overlooked when you’re searching for answers. One of our members knows this all too well. After countless doctor visits, tests, and appointments that left her with more questions than solutions, she felt stuck, frustrated, and unsure of where to turn next.

That’s when she found us.

Meet Valerie. We wanted to share Valerie’s story as a powerful reminder that while traditional healthcare can leave gaps, the right support system can make all the difference.

We asked Valerie questions about her journey so far and she gave us her bullet points for the changes that she’s made.

Q: Please tell us about what motivated you to start your health and wellness journey?

  • Diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and Hypothyroidism.
  • After 20+ years of symptoms and having no answers.
  • Having Autoimmune Disorder, I wanted to get my diet right to make sure I was getting all the vitamins, minerals, etc. I needed.

Q: How has your journey impacted other aspects of your life?

  • The “food Noise” has been turned down.
  • I now know I’ll be just fine, even better if I eat half of a meal out.
  • My energy has increased.
  • Ambition has improved.

Q: What were some of the initial challenges you faced, and how did you overcome them?

  • Sticking to the plan.
  • Drinking lots of water with no breaks
  • Pre-planning menus.

Q: What were some of the initial challenges you faced, and how did you overcome them?

  • More confident when wearing/trying on clothes.
  • 25 lbs. weight loss.
  • 24+ inches lost.
  • Loose fitting clothing.

Q: How have the coaches helped you on your journey?

  • The coaches are invaluable. Each of them offer extensive knowledge, research, and kindness. I’m my worst critic, and they keep reminding me to give myself grace.

Q: Do you have any favorite activities, classes or event at Peak Wellness?

  • Walking with my coach, Dephne.

Q: What are your future goals for your health and wellness?

  • Continue this process.
  • Stick to the plan.
  • Continue Pilates and volleyball.

Q: What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out on the own health and wellness journey?

  • Be kind to yourself. You are worth it! If you falter, get back on the plan the next day. You deserve it!

Q: What kind of advice would you give to someone who initially has a barrier to joining Peak Wellness due to financial reasons?

  • I agree it’s not inexpensive. But, how much is a healthy life for you worth?
