Highlighted Peak Wellness Member: Katie Bierschbach
Nearing a full year of victories on and off the scale, we wanted to take the time to highlight Katie and all of her accomplishments on her health and wellness journey!
- Please tell us a bit about what motivated you to start your health and wellness journey.
“After coming home from a trip to see family, I realized how sick and tired I felt after travelling. I realized how little energy and motivation I had compared to the rest of my family. I also started taking medication for my high blood pressure. I didn’t like how I looked in pictures and always felt uncomfortable in my clothes.”
- How has your journey impacted other aspects of your life?
“I have so much more energy. I am able to wake up before work and workout and even find energy after work to do other activities I love. I never used to do anything but sit on the couch before or after work before I started my journey. I even look forward to social events! Past me would have laughed at that sentence.”
- What were some of the initial challenges you faced, and how did you overcome them?
“I struggled with finding a good time to work out and sticking to it. I finally found a schedule that works with me after deciding that prioritizing my health was the most important step in having a good day every day of the week.”
- Please share any significant milestones or achievements that you’re particularly proud of.
“Since I have started my journey, I have not gotten sic after travelling and can fit comfortably in an airplane seat.
I have also gone down two pant sizes and down 3 shirt sizes.
My blood pressure has been down and at normal numbers.”
- How have the coaches helped you on your journey?
“The coaches are the main reason I have been able to succeed so far. The main reason I failed in the past was due to lack of accountability and support. Meeting with the coaches every week continues to remind me that there are people listening and watching and will keep me on track!”
- Do you have any favorite activities, classes, or events at Peak Wellness?
“Haven’t done any yet! :) I do enjoy the blog recipes though.”
- What are your future goals for your health and wellness?
“I hope to be able to run comfortably again. I also plan to continue my work at the gym as I work on getting stronger.”
- What advice would you give to someone just starting out on their own health and wellness journey?
“Don’t think of it as a race, Remember that you are creating a whole new lifestyle from what you are used to, and it is going to take time and patience. But you will eventually realize how better life is when you feel good.”
- What kind of advice would you give someone who initially has a barrier to joining Peak Wellness due to financial reasons?
“Paying the amount I do to get to where I want to be is so worth it because the things I have learned and done will benefit me the rest of my life after Peak Wellness.”
