Dad on a Mission: Reclaiming Health, One Step at a Time
Meet Joe—a devoted father, husband, and now, a man on a mission to reclaim his health. Like many busy dads, Joe spent years putting work and family first, often at the expense of his own well-being. But recently, something shifted. He realized that taking care of himself wasn’t just about feeling better—it was about being present, active, and energized for the people who matter most. This is the story of a dad who chose to lead by example, proving that true strength isn’t just physical—it’s rooted in love, commitment, and the desire to be there for life’s most important moments.
We first asked Joe what motivated him to start his journey with Peak Wellness. Here’s what he had to say:
“Doctor said I was not healthy and could have a stroke or heart attack at any tim. Tired of being tire and not being able to do things.“
Next question is how has his journey impacted other aspects of his life.
“I am able to do a lot more now. I am able to play with my son and go fishing. I find myself not sitting on the couch all the time. My wife says I smile a lot now.“
Any journey that we go on, we’re bound to face some challenges along the way. Going on a health and wellness journey is not any different. We asked Joe what some of his initial challenges were, and how he overcame them.
“Just getting to know the diet plan and what I could and could not eat and drink. To overcome this, just being able to talk with the coaches. They have helped me by encouraging me. I just always feel so positive when I leave every week and I feel like a person again (like I can actually do things). 😊“
We then asked Joe to share some of his achievements and milestones that he is proud of to which he gave a great list of his accomplishments!
“Weight loss, pant size drop, belt notch, longer duration of activity, playing with son.“
As Joe continues on his journey, we wanted to know what his future goals were for his health and wellness.
“To lose weight to 200 lbs. Although, the way things are going, I may shoot for 175 lbs.!!! Try to do more activities outdoors that I always wanted to do when I moved to Rapid City (i.e. rock climbing, trail walking, fishing, hunting, etc.).“
Lastly, we asked Joe to share some advice to those who are wanting to start on their personal journey and advice to those who have a barrier to joining due to financial reasons.
“Use coaches, follow the plan, and be positive!
I put off for these reasons, until I was at a point to where I just couldn’t!! Don’t wait, start now so you don’t ruin a part of yourself you cannot get back (I have nerve damage in my feet that will never get better). Wish I would of made changes long ago. I missed out on so much for so little $. In the long run, you will thank yourself.“
Joe’s journey is a powerful reminder that taking control of your health isn’t selfish—it’s one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself and the ones you love. By making his well-being a priority, he’s not only transforming his own life but also setting a lasting example for his family. Whether it’s running around with his kids, showing up with more energy, or simply being present, Joe proves that real change starts with a decision—and the willingness to follow through. His story inspires us all to take that first step toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.
